Reading out of 2Timothy4:3-5 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths. But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good news, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

 The time is now to begin to open your bibles and to read from them yourself, without watching the words on the big screen at church. Ask the Holy spirit to give you knowledge and wisdom as you read. Bible says in Luke 11:9-10 and so i tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive, what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

The Soul

Time may wrinkle the skin, but worry, doubt, hate, and the lost of ideals wrinkle the soul. As we gracefully accept the passing of years, God will smooth out the wrinkles of our souls. May God’s love fill your heart always.

Thanksgiving Bible Verses

(Psalm 136:1) Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.
(1 Thessalonians 5:18)  Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
(Psalm 100:4) Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise
his name.
(Psalm 107:1) Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I Thank Thee

O Thou whose bounty fills my cup,
With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop—
The bitter and the sweet.

I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.

I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for
the future crown
And for the present cross.

I thank Thee for both wings of love
Which stirred my worldly nest;
And for the stormy clouds which drove
Me, trembling, to Thy breast.

I bless Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy;
And for this strange, this settled peace
Which nothing can destroy.
Thanksgiving is a special day in America. You know the story of the Pilgrims. There is some debate, but in 1621 they gathered together for what is generally considered to be the first time that a Thanksgiving was observed.

Abraham Lincoln, in 1863, declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. Every year in America as a nation we take a day of thanksgiving. We gather together with family and with friends and we have food and we celebrate this day of Thanksgiving. It is a day.

According to the Scriptures, Thanksgiving is also a duty. The Bible commands us to give thanksgiving unto the Lord. For instance, Psalm 100, verse 4, says, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name."

Psalm 105, verse 1, says, "O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples."

All over the Bible you will find this command to give thanks unto the Lord. It's in the Old Testament and the New Testament. It is a duty to give thanksgiving unto the Lord.

First Thessalonians 5, verse 18, says, "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

In Ephesians, chapter 5, it gets a little stronger. It says in verse 20, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Give thanks "in" all things and give thanks "for" all things.

That gives you a little problem. We can understand how to give thanks "in" all things, but the verse also says, "Give thanks for all things." How do you thank God for all things? How do you thank God for the bad things that happen?

Matthew Henry wrote one of the great Bible commentaries. Matthew Henry was taken by a thief and robbed on an occasion. After he was robbed Matthew Henry said, "I thank Thee, Lord, first because it is the first time I have ever been robbed. Second, I thank Thee because he took my purse and not my life. Third, I thank Thee because, though he took my all, it was not very much. Fourth, I thank Thee because it was I who was robbed and not I who robbed." Even for all things, there is something we can thank God for.

It's a day. It's a duty. It's a delight. Thanksgiving is one of those delightful things we learn in life. To be thankful is very healthy for you. It is one of those activities that create emotional health. It has a cleansing power to it. It has a healing power. Learn to be thankful to the Lord.

Psalm 103 could be called the "Thanksgiving Psalm." There are many of them, but this really is a Thanksgiving Psalm. It sets our minds and our hearts in the direction of thanksgiving during this Thanksgiving season.
